Chatwood allowed just one hit and one run over eight innings and Trevor Story and Gerardo Parra each smacked home runs as the Rockies opened a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 6-1 victory.
After eight superb innings and 100 pitches, Chatwood turned the ball over to Gonzalez Germen, who retired the Dodgers in order in the ninth to preserve Colorado’s second-ever one-hitter. The only other one-hitter in franchise history came on June 20, 2006, in a 6-0 win over Oakland at Coors Field. Jason Jennings pitched seven innings and allowed one hit while Tom Martin and Brian Fuentes wrapped things up against the Athletics with hitless, scoreless frames.
