Royals 3, Rockies 1, at Surprise Stadium
SURPRISE, Ariz. — Starter Tyler Anderson’s flawless two innings highlighted an otherwise tepid performance by the Rockies, who dropped a 3-1 Cactus League game to Kansas City Thursday afternoon. The Rockies managed just five hits against seven K.C. pitchers.
Eric Hosmer hit a three-run homer in the fourth off Antonio Senzatela, except that Rockies manager Bud Black was adamant that it was not a home run.
“They called it a home run, but it was not a home run,” Black said. “The ball hit the top railing, but the umpires told me it went over the fence and that it hit the grass (berm).
