Now begins the Tyler Anderson reclamation project.
As expected, the Rockies optioned the struggling left-hander to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday after another bad performance Friday night in a 10-9 loss to Arizona. Anderson gave up six runs on seven hits, including two home runs, over four-plus innings. The performance left him with an 11.76 ERA, a .348 batting average against and a 2.13 WHIP.
“Ultimately, this comes down to a performance game, and Tyler was not where he needs to be to make his next start,” Rockies manager Bud Black said. “He’s going to go back down to Albuquerque, get back on the horse and try to get some consistency.
