Tyler Chatwood brought an MLB-leading 0.46 road-ERA into Wednesday afternoon’s game against the San Diego Padres – and then he threw eighth shutout innings, dropping that mark to 0.33 and leading the Colorado Rockies to a 2-0 win.
Chatwood’s final line was the most impressive from a Rockie all season: 8 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 7 K. He threw 99 pitches, 61 for strikes and lowered his ERA on the season to 2.15.
The only danger he experienced Wednesday was a jam in the seventh with a two-out double from Brett Wallace and an ensuing walk.
