The Rockies could be getting a top-rated right-handed pitching prospect if one MLB mock draft is to be believed.
MLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo has Colorado selecting Texas Longhorns’ Ty Madden with the No. 8 overall pick. The 21-year-old is the No. 9-ranked prospect in the draft, according to MLB.com.
“If the Rockies go college arm here, it could also be Gunnar Hoglund, but I moved him down because he was scratched from his start this weekend,” Mayo writes.
In three years at Texas, Madden compiled a 13-3 record with a 2.50 ERA and 147 strikeouts in 136 2/3 innings.
