PHILADELPHIA — "Soon" is a relative measure. Sometime soon we will ride in flying cars. And sometime soon the rain will stop pouring on Denver.
And someday soon — whenever it is, we don't yet know — the Rockies will field a team without shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and outfielder Carlos Gonzalez.
For now, through the first two months of the season, as weird as it seems, the Rockies are better without their two high-priced stars.
Against the Reds in Cincinnati last week, manager Walt Weiss sat both of his sluggers. And the Rockies won. The next day, with both of them in the lineup, the Rockies lost.
