Trevor Story will ride to his first All-Star Game via Cloud Nine.
The Rockies’ shortstop launched a walk-off homer off of Nick Vincent in the ninth inning to lift Colorado to a 4-3 win over Seattle Sunday afternoon at Coors Field. It was the first walk-off homer of Story’s career. He will play in his first All-Star Game Tuesday night in Washington.
The victory gave Colorado a three-game sweep as it won for the 10th time in 12 games.
Before Story’s dramatic final chapter, this was a game of attrition.
With usual late-game relievers Adam Ottavino and Wade Davis unavailable, manger Bud Black turned to right-hander Scott Oberg, who got the final out of the eighth and then pitched a perfect ninth.
