The California League isn’t exactly known for it’s pitching duels and on Wednesday night in Lancaster, it is safe to say that is not what occurred.
The Jet Hawks hit five home runs, accounting for nine runs, and ran away from Lake Elsinore in a 17-11 victory. Luis Castro, Brian Serven, and Vince Fernandez all led the way for the Hawks with 10 combined hits and a home run each. Fernandez’s impressive year in Lancaster continued as he added his 15th homer, his 52nd and 53rd RBI, and upped his OPS to .919 on the year. The young slugger has shown legitimate power promise at every level in the minors for the organization and that hasn’t slowed down in 2018.
