Chad Bettis’ fastball command was not the only thing off Friday night. So was his timing.
On a night when the Rockies’ bats finally came alive up and down the order, Bettis pitched a clunker in an 11-10, 10-inning loss to the Brewers. The seven earned runs he allowed in five-plus innings tied for the most earned runs given up by a Rockies starter this season. Also, Bettis’ seven earned runs were his most since giving up seven on June 26, 2016 vs. Arizona.
“It’s awesome that our guys came out and put up nine runs early,” Bettis said.
