The good and the bad for Rockies pitchers

German Marquez has been a delightful constant for the Rockies, and this is partly due to his wide arsenal of pitches. He used to throw almost exclusively fastballs and curveballs, but now he’s worked out a slider and a changeup. The Padres put up a good number of hits against Marquez, but he got the job done when he was needed. He’s able to keep hitters guessing, and he’s poised to have a breakout 2019 season. We might even see him as a contender for the Cy Young Award if he can keep this kind of performance up.
