The MLB first-year player (Rule 4) draft is Thursday and the Colorado Rockies have the fourth overall pick. Last year with the third overall pick the club chose shortstop Brendan Rodgers. With the sections yet to be made this season, now is a good time to look back on the five worst draft years the franchise has had.
Everyone remembers the gigantic bust that was Greg Reynolds, the Rockies first round pick in 2006. The right-handed pitcher was drafted just ahead of Evan Longoria, Brandon Morrow, Andrew Miller, Tim Lincecum, and Max Scherzer, but Reynolds’ classmates for the Rockies didn’t do much either.
