#TBT: Colorado Rockies win 2007 National League pennant

Oct. 15, 2007: It’s one of the most iconic images in Colorado Rockies history — first baseman Todd Helton raises his fists to the skies while Arizona outfielder Eric Byrnes lays on first base — defeated — behind him.

The Rockies won the National League pennant in a dominating performance, sweeping the Diamondbacks and getting an opportunity to go to their first World Series. It capped off one of the greatest runs in Major League Baseball history, as the team won 21 of 22 games to win the NL.

I talked with NFL reporter Troy Renck, The Post’s then-MLB reporter, on covering the team through Rocktoberfest.
