SEATTLE -- Rockies shortstop Trevor Story's streak of games played -- 139 entering Saturday -- was in jeopardy when he was scratched from the starting lineup for the game against the Mariners.
Story, an All-Star candidate (.282, 16 HR, 60 RBIs -- fourth in NL) who had played short in all but one of the team's 781 innings this season, was hit by a pitch on the right foot from Mariners left-hander Roenis Elias in the seventh inning of the Rockies' 7-1 victory Friday night at Safeco Field.
The last time the Rockies' defense took the field without Story was June 2, when Daniel Castro (now at Triple-A Albuquerque) played the ninth inning of a 12-4 loss to the Dodgers.
