NEW YORK — A battle of the bullpens Wednesday at Yankee Stadium swung quickly in New York’s favor — 103 mph quick.
Between flame-throwing Aroldis Chapman, Andrew Miller and Dellin Betances, the Yankees rallied late and skipped ahead on the final pitch as Starlin Castro’s home run off Rockies’ Jason Motte ended a 9-8, walk-off victory for New York in front of 40,104 afternoon fans in the Bronx.
The Rockies, who trailed 4-0, then led 8-4, finally fell on the final pitch.
“Getting down early, fighting our way back to score eight runs — we wanted to win that game,” Colorado manager Walt Weiss said.
