SCOTTSDALE — No eating cheese. No dairy except for eggs. No grains after 5 p.m., and a corresponding re-adjustment in his offseason workout routine focused on cutting down fat and beefing up explosion, quickness and endurance.
Those are the details behind Nolan Arenado‘s slightly slimmed physique this spring training, where the Rockies third baseman has shed 11 pounds from his 2018 playing weight in an attempt to keep himself fresh throughout the grind of a major league season at altitude.
“(Last year) I had heavy legs,” Arenado explained. “When you carry a little more weight, it starts to feel a bit heavier.
