SAN DIEGO — As September dawns, the race for the National League West title promises to be a wild three-team fight. Los Angeles, Colorado and Arizona have been neck-and-neck for weeks.
The Dodgers are certainly a flawed team, but they have the best pedigree, having won five consecutive division titles and they came within a victory of capturing last year’s World Series. Fangraphs gives L.A. a 74.2 percent chance of winning the West.
The Diamondbacks have a solid bullpen and a strong front end of the rotation, as well as a dangerous, albeit inconsistent offense.
The Rockies have one of the best rotations in team history, a hit-and-miss lineup and a questionable bullpen.
