The real Rockies haven’t played a Fourth of July game since 2018 when they beat the San Francisco Giants, 1-0. And last year, the Rox, oddly enough, had the federal holiday off. However, with this years’ season being a little different than usual, the Rockies defeated the Giants again on Independence Day but in the simulated version of baseball.
Chi Chi Gonzalez picked up his third win this season after pitching six innings and holding the Giants off to one run that he gave up in the second inning. The Rockies took control of the game in their half of the third, thanks to a three-run blast to center off the bat of Trevor Story.
