As baseball’s Memorial Day milepost nears, the Rockies are quickly sliding toward irrelevance, at least in the standings.
And I have to wonder how long the club will remain relevant to those who are not part of their hardcore fan base. Because simply put, the Rockies are a bad baseball team.
It seems like eons ago that they were 16-11 and playing solid baseball. Entering Saturday’s doubleheader at Washington, the Rockies had lost 13 of their last 17 games. Their defense has been sloppy, their pitching mostly bad, and their offense wildly inconsistent.
That leads me to some questions and observations:
* Is manager Bud Black’s job in jeopardy?
