SAN DIEGO — Ryan McMahon cruised into second base and clapped his hands in celebration.
Why not? McMahon was overdue for a moment like this. And the Rockies were overdue for a game like this.
McMahon ripped a two-out, two-run double down the right-field line to lift his team to a 4-2 win over the Padres on Sunday afternoon at Petco Park.
Also encouraging was the strong performance by starter German Marquez, who threw seven solid innings and posted his second quality start in a row.
Closer Daniel Bard struck out the side in the ninth for his 13th save.
