It was another ugly game for the Colorado Rockies against the Philadelphia Phillies and ultimately a sweep on the road that couldn’t have unfolded in more frustrating fashion for the Rockies had it been scripted as such.
The Colorado Nine started off incredibly sloppy, committing three errors and surrendering two unearned runs in the first three innings. Two of the errors came from the usually sure-handed Nolan Arenado and it certainly didn’t help that the club had Ryan Raburn playing first base for the first time in six years.
Gerardo Parra made a questionable decision to not throw the ball home with the slow-running Cameron Rupp coming in to score in the third and Nick Hundley had a difficult time blocking pitches or framing them in the strike zone, compiling the Rockies defensive woes with a number of plays that really hurt the team even though they weren’t ruled errors.
