Rockies’ young pitchers hit hard by Brewers; Trevor Story homers, doubles

Brewers 9, Rockies 4, at Maryvale Baseball Park

PHOENIX — The Rockies’ young guns got shelled Sunday afternoon in a 9-4 loss to Milwaukee. Right-handers Carlos Estevez, Ryan Castellani and James Farris suffered rough outings as the Brewers scored eight runs over their last four innings.

For starters: Right-hander Chad Bettis, making his first Cactus League start, looked sharp in his two innings on the mound. He made one big mistake, leaving a center-cut fastball over the plate and Hernan Perez made him pay for it, blasting a solo homer to deep left to lead off Milwaukee’s second inning.
