SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — With German Marquez, Jon Gray and Kyle Freeland all presumed locks to make Colorado’s opening day rotation, two spots are up for grabs on the back end.
And as Antonio Senzatela, Jeff Hoffman, Chi Chi Gonzalez, Wes Parsons, Peter Lambert, Ryan Castellani and Ubaldo Jimenez compete for those positions throughout spring, the Rockies might have to weigh remaining minor league options into the equation somehow … although manager Bud Black has his heart set on putting together the best possible rotation regardless.
“I don’t think options trump our best team,” Black said.
