Growing up a Rangers fan in Irving, Texas, Trevor Story spent much of his youth rooting for Alex Rodriguez, who spent three seasons playing there from 2001-03.
So when the three-time MVP, who was in Denver to for the “Sunday Night Baseball” broadcast, pulled Story aside prior to Saturday night’s game, the Rockies’ shortstop welcomed Rodriguez’s advice.
“That was special for me,” Story said. “I watched A-Rod a lot growing up, especially when he was with Texas. He was nice to share some certain little things with me, like about recovery and hitting, stuff like that.”
Story called Rodriguez “one of the best of all time, and his swing was so pure.
