Rockies top prospect Brendan Rodgers placed on disabled list

Colorado Rockies top prospect and current Hartford Yard Goats shortstop of the Double-A Eastern League left Sunday’s game against the Erie SeaWolves after doubling in the first inning.

Rodgers, who is hitting .273 with 11 XBH and 17 RBI in 36 games with Hartford, was placed on the 7-day DL with tight quadriceps. His stint will be retroactive to Tuesday.

The third overall pick of the 2015 draft and the consensus top American-born prospect in baseball has had an unreal year.

After starting the season on the DL he caught fire at High-A Lancaster.
