WASHINGTON — Just how bad are the rock-bottom Rockies right now?
Consider the following:
— After getting swept in a doubleheader by the Nationals on Wednesday, the Rockies have gone 3-16 over their last 19 games. The only worse 19-game stretch in franchise history came in the 1993 inaugural season when the Rockies went 2-17.
— Colorado’s run differential over these 19 games is minus-72 (75 runs scored vs. 147 runs allowed). The only worst stretch came, again, in 1993 when the club had multiple runs of ineptitude.
Despite a very encouraging starting performance from left-hander Kyle Freeland, the Rockies lost the nightcap 2-0 because of a no-show offense and a costly error.
