Rockies’ struggles continue with extra-inning, 2-1 loss against Astros

Gut punch? Heartbreaking? Excruciating?

Check, check and check.

Miles Straw punched a single through the Rockies’ five-man infield in the 11th inning to lift the Astros to a 2-1 win Tuesday afternoon at Minute Maid Park. Straw’s single off Jairo Diaz drove in Abraham Toro, who opened the inning at second base as part of the new extra-inning tie-breaker rule.

The Rockies received two stellar starts in Houston and came away empty, and have now lost seven of their past nine games.

On a day when runs were as precious as diamonds, Colorado’s Raimel Tapia drove a single through the box against closer Ryan Pressly to drive in Trevor Story from third and give Colorado a 1-0 lead in the 10th.
