SAN DIEGO — It was a Sunday of wasted opportunities for the sliding Rockies, who have lost 11 of their last 15 games and five in a row. Sure, there are 138 games remaining in their season, but the Rockies' poor performance during their 1-5 road trip raises the legitimate question: Is their season already on the brink?
Third baseman Nolan Arenado doesn't think so, even after the Rockies (11-13) hit the cover off the ball but still found a way to lose 8-6 to the San Diego Padres at Petco Park.
"It's still early in the season," said Arenado, who smacked two home runs off San Diego ace James Shields.
