Rockies’ starters pitching much better at Coors Field than on the road

One of the most curious things about the Rockies’ curious season is this: At hitter-friendly Coors Field, their starters own a combined 3.57 ERA. On the road, starters have posted a 5.14 ERA.

German Marquez, for example, got beat up by the Giants in San Francisco on Thursday night, giving up seven runs in just four innings. The right-hander is Colorado’s best pitcher, but on the road, he’s 3-7 with a 4.81 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a .255 batting average against. At home, Marquez has been mighty: 7-2 with a 3.05 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and .199 average against.
