The impossible, improbable, heart-wrenching grand slam in the ninth inning Tuesday night off the bat of the Los Angeles Dodgers' Alex Guerrero hung in the air seemingly forever — until it crept over Charlie Blackmon's leaping attempt at the center-field wall.
And with that, the Dodgers won the game 9-8 and sucked the life out of Coors Field — save for the delirious L.A. fans behind the visitors' dugout.
The first slam of Guerrero's career came with two outs off 40-year-old Rockies reliever Rafael Betancourt, turning what could have been one of the best days of the Rockies' season into one of their worst.
