The Rockies needed all of this:
— Ryan McMahon’s three-run homer in a five-run second inning.
— A 14-hit attack that included clutch hitting (5-for-11 with runners in scoring position).
— A bounce-back performance from Jon Gray, who provided seven strong innings despite giving up two home runs. The right-hander allowed just three hits, struck out seven and walked two. Gray came into the game with only nine strikeouts over his first four starts.
— And, most of all, the Rockies needed their 10-6 victory over Texas on a hot Sunday afternoon at Coors Field to snap a three-game losing streak and put a positive spin on an otherwise disappointing 2-4 homestand.
