The Rockies have signed former all-star Yonder Alonso to a minor-league contract.

The veteran first baseman played for Triple-A Albuquerque Thursday night, batting 1-for-4 with two RBIs, a run scored and a sacrifice fly.

Alonso, 32, struggled this season, prompting his release by the Chicago White Sox on July 3. He slashed .178/.275/.301 in 251 plate appearances.

Alonso, a left-handed hitter, was productive with Cleveland last season, batting .250 with 23 homers and a .738 OPS in 145 games for the Indians. In 2017, Alonso was an all-star during a season when he played for both Oakland and Seattle.
