Rockies' series opener against Arizona Diamondbacks gets rained out

The Rockies returned to Coors Field on Monday hoping to use a week-long homestand to help snap a losing skid. But now they're fighting against the weather too.

Rain socked in over Denver early in the evening and soaked through the night, forcing the Rockies to postpone a series-opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

No makeup date was decided Monday night.

Two hours and 30 minutes after the scheduled first pitch, MLB officials called off the game and the handful of fans still left at Coors Field were shuttled out.

Tyler Matzek, Monday's scheduled starter for the Rockies, will now pitch Tuesday against Arizona's scheduled Monday starter, Josh Collmenter.
