With the 68th overall selection, the Colorado Rockies have nabbed Joe Rock from Ohio University.
Standing 6'6" but weighing in at just 200 lbs, Rock has a projecatble frame to go with a fastball that sits in the low-90's but has been clocked as high as 93-96.
Rock is the highest drafted pitcher to come from the Ohio Bobcats, edging former big leaguer Dave Tobik (1974). His greatest collegiate accomplishment came in his second start of the 2021 season, when he threw a seven inning no-hitter against Morehead State.
As with most starting pitchers, Rock must improve his command and third pitch in order to find success at the big leagues.
