Rockies reportedly close to deal with Daniel Murphy

The Rockies are close to a deal with free-agent infielder Daniel Murphy, reports MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal.

Murphy hit .299 with 12 home runs and 42 RBIs in 91 games with the Cubs and Nationals last season. Murphy opened the 2018 season on the disabled list following right knee surgery, and was traded to Chicago in late August.

Murphy is a career .299 hitter with a .344 OBP over 1,280 games with the Mets, Nationals and Cubs. He also had a huge postseason with the Mets in 2015, helping New York win the NL pennant.
