As expected, the Rockies recalled right-hander Jeff Hoffman from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday to start Colorado’s homestand opener against the Orioles.
Hoffman, 26, is 3-3 with a 7.57 ERA in seven games (six starts) for the Isotopes this season and yielded four earned runs in five innings in his lone major league outing of 2019. That came April 23 against the Nationals at Coors Field, when he filled in for an injured Kyle Freeland.
“I thought he threw the ball well that night — good curveball, good fastball command, good delivery,” manager Bud Black said.
