Tyler Nevin was a late addition to the Rockies’ Arizona Fall League team when he replaced Colorado’s top prospect, Brendan Rodgers, whose shoulder tightness caused the infielders to swap places on the Salt River Rafters roster.
Nevin, 21, made the most of his opportunity. He won the league’s batting title this past weekend by finishing with a .426 average. He had an equally impressive .593 slugging percentage and .535 on-base percentage in 17 games.
The often-injured Yard Goats infielder, who spent extended time on the disabled list due to various injuries each of the past three seasons, also finished as runner-up for the AFL MVP.
