Ryan Vilade hit his first home run of 2018 last night for the Asheville Tourists. The Rockies top selection from the 2017 draft, Vilade has struggled to duplicate his impressive numbers (.308/.438/.496) from last season. He’s currently hitting .220/.354/.280 against competition over two years older than him on average. Vilade has maintained his impressive ability to draw a walk though his propensity to strike out has grown. Unfortunately, he hasn’t demonstrated the power that was his biggest tool prior to the draft. Hopefully, last night’s home run is the turn-around and he’ll begin to dominate Low-A just like he did the Pioneer League last season.
