Jack Wynkoop showed he has the arm to go the distance last week, and the Eastern League took notice.
The Hartford Yard Goats left-hander was named the league’s pitcher of the week after throwing the first nine-inning complete-game shutout in the Rockies Double-A affiliate’s history.
Wynkoop retired 27 of 32 batters and allowed just five hits with no walks and five strikeouts in a 4-0 win.
The 25-year-old, selected in the sixth round out of South Carolina, is now 6-9 with 73 strikeouts and a 3.03 ERA in 17 starts for the Yard Goats.
