Rockies promote Cardullo, option Paulsen, Oberg to 60-day DL

In a move designed to create a bit more diversity in the Colorado Rockies lineup, multiple sources have confirmed that the club has promoted right-handed outfielder/first baseman Stephen Cardullo from Triple-A Albuquerque to the Major League roster.

Cardullo hit .308 with 17 home runs for Albuquerque after playing in independent leagues from 2012-2015. If he manages to succeed in any form at the MLB level it will be a truly great story of perseverance. Cardullo has made his opportunity with his play but also gets the benefit of being a right-handed bat in a lineup that desperately needs one after Trevor Story and Mark Reynolds were lost for the season.
