It certainly isn’t worthy of the “Orange Crush” or the “The Steel Curtain” moniker.
And while it might be too much to label the Rockies’ defense as “Doomsday,” their glovework has been less than stellar.
Case in point, in the sixth inning Sunday, the Mets’ Brandon Nimmo hit a routine single to right field, but Randal Grichuk had the ball go between his legs and Nimmo took third on the two-base error. Grichuk’s error opened the door to the Mets’ 2-0 victory.
The Rockies’ 32 errors are tied for the third-most in the majors.
“We’ve got to keep working and we’ve got to get better,” manager Bud Black said afterward.
