Rockies pitching prospect Rico Garcia (no. 20 PuRP) has been putting up outstanding numbers with the Hartford Yard Goats so far this season. The 25-year-old Hawaii native made two starts this week. In his first start, he lasted 6 2⁄3 innings without giving up a run. He struck out 11 and didn’t walk a single batter. In his second start, he lasted seven innings and allowed one run while striking out seven. He did hit two batters, though. In six Double-A starts, Garcia owns a 1.71 ERA with 42 strikeouts. That leads the team by 13 and ranks second in the entire Eastern League, behind Matt Manning of the Erie SeaWolves — the Detroit Tigers Double-A team.
