Ben Bowden, one of the Rockies’ top prospects as a relief pitcher, blew a save in the MLB all-star Futures Game on Sunday at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
After issuing a leadoff walk to Angels No. 1 prospect Jo Adell in the last inning of a 2-0, seven-inning affair, Bowden was tagged for a 418-foot moonshot homer to left field by Rangers prospect Sam Huff. That was the equalizer, and Bowden yielded two more hits before being pulled with one out.
The game between the best minor-league players in the National League and American League then went into extra innings.
