DENVER — The Colorado Rockies announced today the corresponding move from yesterday’s confirmed reports that the team had called up top pitching prospect Jeff Hoffman.
In order to make room for Hoffman on the 25-man roster, someone was going to be the odd-man-out and it ended up being right-handed reliever, Christian Bergman.
Bergman is being optioned back down to Triple-A Albuquerque just a few days, really, after returning from injury. He has pitched one inning since May, giving up two runs on two hits.
Hoffman — a major component of the Troy Tulowitzki trade — will make his MLB debut at 6:10 tonight against the Chicago Cubs in the second game of the series.
