At the end of “Field of Dreams,” Ray Kinsella, as portrayed by Kevin Costner, chokes up as he asks his dad, “You wanna have a catch?”
That’s classic baseball.
But so is this: A mom racing to get her son to a ballgame on time, juggling the family schedule, keeping score at a Little League game, working the concession stand and providing emotional support after an 0-for-4 game or a costly error.
“It’s hard for me to remember specifics of what my mom did for me when I was a kid because it seemed like she did everything,” Rockies all-star outfielder Charlie Blackmon said of his mother, Ellen.
