The Rockies, coming off back-to-back playoff seasons, are enduring one of the most disappointing years in franchise history.
They entered Monday night’s game against Arizona with a 53-65 record, third-worst in the National League. They had gone 13-31 since June 21, the worst record in the NL over that span.
The Rockies’ epic slide prompts a blunt and straightforward question: Is their record an accurate reflection of the team?
The question elicited some interesting responses, especially from all-star third baseman Nolan Arenado.
“I think we are better than our record indicates, for sure, but I don’t think we are as good as the really good teams,” Arenado said.
