Rockies’ Nolan Arenado, Gerardo Parra suspended for roles in brawl with Padres

Major League Baseball handed down discipline for the Rockies and Padres brawl on Friday, with all-star third baseman Nolan Arenado and outfielder Gerardo Parra suspended for their roles in Wednesday’s melee.

Arenado, who charged San Diego pitcher Luis Perdomo after being thrown at in the third inning of the series finale, was suspended for five games. Parra and German Marquez, both of whom came off the bench and were involved in the altercation — Parra by throwing punches, Marquez by throwing a towel — each were disciplined as well. Parra received a four-game ban.
