Rockies’ NL West tiebreaker notebook: Individual honors, handling emotions, wild card contingency pitching plan

LOS ANGELES — Ahead of Monday’s National League West tiebreaker against the Dodgers, a pair of Rockies players who propelled Colorado into October have earned recognition.

David Dahl was named the National League’s player of the week, while German Marquez was named the pitcher of the month.

Dahl hit .333 with six home runs and 15 RBIs last week, including a streak of five consecutive games with a home run, while Marquez was 3-1 in five starts in September with a 2.14 ERA and 48 strikeouts and just five walks.

Marquez said late Sunday night, following the Rockies’ pummeling of the Nationals to force Monday’s tiebreaker, that he felt ready for the pressure of a winner-take-all divisional title game.
