SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The color purple — not bluish like a concord grape, and definitely not violet — is on the Rockies’ minds this spring.
In case you haven’t noticed, the club has updated its purple to a lighter shade. The Rockies are searching for a consistent hue that will be used on everything from game jerseys, caps and T-shirts, to protective gear, alternative jerseys, jackets and hoodies.
Reaction in the clubhouse at Salt River Field has been mixed.
Right-hander Jon Gray, who has high hopes of be an pitching ace purple innings eater this season, is thrilled with the new look.
