Thursday, Oct. 17, marked Spirit Day across the country and around Major League Baseball. Even though the Rockies season ended on Sept. 29, members of the organization’s staff dawned their purple for a reason beyond team spirit: to stand up for LGBTQ youth.

Spirit Day is an annual event started by GLADD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) and “is the world’s most visible anti-bullying movement inspiring LGBTQ youth, especially transgender and nonbinary youth to live their lives in their truth and authenticity.
