Everyone calls him “Tiny,” but Mike Pontarelli’s presence in the Rockies clubhouse is huge.
Now Tiny’s been recognized for his baseball passion, long hours of work, logistical skills and keen ability to run a clubhouse like clockwork.
Pontarelli on Tuesday was named clubhouse manager of the year by the Major League Baseball Clubhouse Managers Association.
“It’s a tremendous honor for me because it’s voted on by my peers,” said Pontarelli, a Colorado native and graduate of Arvada West High School and Regis University. “To be able to do a job I love and get this recognition is fantastic.
